My adoption fee is only $10.Continue Reading →
Hi, my name is Mikey. I am an eight year old, neutered male Cocker Spaniel. I have very soft white and tan curly fur, and brown eyes. I was found by a Good Samaritan who brought me to the Humane Society, but sadly my owners did not look for me there. I was very scared at first, but now that I’m a little more comfortable I love to go on walks, eat treats, and get affection. I have a friend in my kennel with me and we get along great, so if you have another dog at home I’d be a good companion to them too! I know I’m a little older, but I’m in good shape and I still have a lot of love to give. Come and meet me today and I bet we’ll get along great!Continue Reading →

For a companion piece to our Halloween slide show on some of the great old graves at Evergreen Cemetery , we went to the oft-passed-yet-seldom-visited Pet Rest Memorial Park on Highway 115 just past the entrance to the May Museum to visit the graves of some of the thousands of beloved pets interred there. The incredible variety of names and memorials say as much about the owners as they do about the pets that have been buried there for more than 40 years.Continue Reading →
Every year at around this time, Grace-St. Stephens Episcopal Church holds its Blessing of the Pets in memory of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of pets. Last year was the first time the parish held the event since returning to the church building at 601 N. Tejon after the much publicized split within the congregation in 2007. This year’s blessing will be held today at 5:30 p.m and all are welcome. In case you’re wondering what to expect, we went last year and put together this audio slide show.Continue Reading →
