Containment on the Black Forest Fire remains at 85%, and the most current assessment shows 509 homes considered total losses.

Incident Commander Rich Harvey says they’re expecting some different weather today. It’s expected to be hot and dry, with low humidity. Harvey calls it a test.

“This is a time when the fire has a chance to get active. We are prepared for it, and in certain aspects, we welcome it because it will show us that last remaining heat, and we can get this thing done quicker.”

Sheriff Terry Maketa reported one more burglary, for a current total of seven. He says offenders will be aggressively prosecuted. The cost to date of fighting the fire is $8.5 million.
