Two years ago, a cantaloupe farm in southeastern Colorado was responsible for the deadliest foodborne illness outbreak in decades. A packing facility there sent cantaloupe infected with listeria, a pathogen known for its high mortality rate, across the country. Since then, melon growers in the renowned Rocky Ford region have been trying to repair their image, and keep an outbreak from happening again. Harvest Public Media’s Luke Runyon reports.
