Manitou Springs City Council took the last step tonight to approve the legal opening of the Manitou Incline to hikers, beginning Friday, February 1st. It was the final step in a long line of measures needed for the popular trail to gain legal status. According to Incline Friends, a non-profit group devoted to the trail, work such as repairs and maintenance can now begin. Colorado Springs City Council voted in favor of legalization earlier this year.

You can hear more about the process, and travel up the Incline in this story from last year.
