As I was watching the Emmy Awards the other night and saw Giancarlo Esposito and Kerry Washington presenting awards, it reminded me of the time I interviewed the two of them and many more members of the Creative Coalition at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. In the 2008 election cycle, it seemed that the Arts were more central to the political debate than they are this time around. Is it simply because the economic situation has trumped all other issues or is something else going on?

Here is the Colorado Culture Cast segment that Klayton Kendall and I produced at the 2008 Creative Coalition Gala at the Democratic National Convention. WARNING: Alan Cumming uses some profane language, and there is some off-color speculation about Lindsay Lohan. If you’re offended by such things, please don’t watch.

This says it all (except the question about Lindsay Lohan–pretty ironic, that). Thanks.
