The late 1970′s and early 1980′s were a time of transition at KRCC. Station-Manager-to-be Mario Valdes was a DJ exploring the alternative realms of punk and new wave which sharply contrasted with some of the station’s other programming, e.g., the Sunday morning German show. Here, we take a look at a representative sample of some of the letters we received during that transformative time.

A German show? On KRCC? Reminds me of the “Sunday Morning Czech Party” where I grew up. Not the most gentle way to start your day.

    Poor the family man.

One of my favorite Big Something features ever. I hope there will be many more volumes to come. The handwritten notes—so revealing and expressive! They make email look sadly uniform and sterile.

So who’s writing the book on KRCC’s history? I would buy it.
