Update 1:30 PM, 6/21/12: US 50 is now reopen; Spike Buck Fire is contained.


A small wildfire dubbed the Spike Buck Fire west of Canon City has shut down U.S. Highway 50 in both directions from Texas Creek to Parkdale. CDOT and the BLM estimate the closure to remain in effect until 1 PM tomorrow. The Arkansas River is closed to rafting from Texas Creek to Parkdale through tomorrow afternoon. The fire has burned 5 acres of BLM land.
