Colorado Springs, CO- Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has set up a second emergency small animal evacuation shelter at the Freedom Financial Services Expo Center located at 3650 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, CO, 80909. This second site is will help accommodate animals of evacuees in the new mandatory evacuation areas.

The Freedom Financial Services Expo Center emergency pet shelter will only handle pets evacuated by the Waldo Canyon Fire. Anyone attempting to reclaim a lost pet, or drop off a stray animal should go to the permanent HSPPR shelter (610 Abbott Ln).

HSPPR’s permanent shelter located at 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs (by the Wal-Mart on 8th Street) also has space available to accept more pet evacuees at this time. Small pets (cats, dogs and critters) are being accepted through the HSPPR Surgery Center located on the West side of the shelter.

The Freedom Financial Services Expo Center was graciously donated to HSPPR is this time of great need. To continue operation costs HSPPR is seeking monetary donations to care for evacuated animals.
