Katie Rudolph at the old Pikes Peak Library District is hosting what we hope will become a regular staple in PPLD-TV land. The idea is to combine the two great tastes that taste great together – history and food. In this pilot episode, Katie whips up some potato doughnuts from a Depression-era recipe, in commemoration of the release of the 1940 census last month. Not only will you learn to make these tasty, breakfast treats for you and yours, you’ll be immersed in the world of the Great Depression, but in a good way.

    How about providing an ability to print out the recipe? What can one substitute for lard? How many calories in each doughnut?
