A Republican bill to ban local governments from regulating the oil and gas industry failed in a senate committee on a 4-1 vote. The measure was introduced after several communities, mostly along the Front Range, issued temporary moratoriums on hydraulic fracturing. Bente Birkeland has more from the state capitol.
