Movies are bound to be on many people’s minds as the Oscar race heats up in the coming weeks. But during this upcoming legislative session, it’s quite possible that movies will be on Colorado lawmakers’ minds for another reason. Governor John Hickenlooper has indicated that he wants to sweeten the deals aimed at luring film producers to the state, claiming movies create jobs and help pump up local economies. But as Luke Runyon reports from Aspen Public Radio, some economists say when it comes to these types of deals, states across the country show few winners and many losers.
