Not content with presenting the same holiday classics in the same holiday way, THEATREWORKS has combined Charles Dickens’ venerable Victorian yuletide staple, A Christmas Carol, with the heritage of the American West. Internationally renowned Cowboy Poet, Waddie Mitchell, retells the familiar tale of Scrooge, Tiny Tim, et al. in his own words. In the above video, we speak with THEATREWORKS Artistic Director, Murray Ross and Waddie Mitchell about the play and the importance of keeping the art of storytelling alive.

A Cowboy Christmas Carol runs through December 24th at THEATREWORKS. For times and tickets, you can click HERE to visit THEATREWORKS’ website.

Below, you can hear Waddie Mitchell recite his poem titled “Sentence” recorded at the Western Jubilee Recording Studio in downtown Colorado Springs.

The above slide show was created by Western Horseman, where you can read more about Waddie Mitchell and his off-grid home near Elko, NV. Click HERE for more.
