We ran both of these slide shows last November, but thought you might like to see them again as Mr. O’Meallie has a new show opening this Friday, March 26 at the Fine Arts Center as part of the Conflict/Resolution exhibition.

The first slide show is about the toys and toy concepts O’Meallie helped design and, in a few instances, create.

The second piece shows O’Meallie’s art work and how his career as a toy designer influenced his creations.

It’s hard to forget the incisively playful artworks of Colorado Springs-based sculptor Sean O’Meallie. Like toys, their bright colors, high contrasts and sleights of wit give them a primordial visual and tactile appeal. What you may not know is that O’Meallie spent many years working in the highly secretive toy business as an inventor and concept designer for one of the very few entrepreneurs who had entree with the big toy companies.
