A big part of the way we see ourselves as a community comes through the pictures we take and share. Few would dispute that Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods would be among the first images to come to mind when you say “Colorado Springs”; or that old steel mill smokestacks would come to mind if you say “Pueblo” and so forth. What we would like to do with our KRCC Flickr Photo Group is to create alternate visions of our region. And we’d like you to help us do it! That’s why feature reader-submitted photos in our daily email.

To submit photos to our Flickr group you have to have a FREE Flickr account, but it’s really easy and here are the simple steps:

1). Go to Flickr.com.
2). Click on the “Create Your Account” button.
3). If you don’t have a Yahoo ID, sign up for one.
4). Create your account and follow the directions to upload photos.
5). Once you’ve uploaded your photos, search for “KRCC” under groups or click HERE.
6). Click “Join This Group”
7). Once you’ve joined the group, click on the photos in your photostream that you want to share with the group and then click on “Actions” pull down menu above the photo and click on “Add to/remove from group” and select KRCC. It will look something like this:

If you want your pictures considered for the email, we also recommend going into “Your Account,” clicking on the “Privacy and Permissions” tab and then, under “What license will your content have,” click “edit” and choose “Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike Creative Commons” so we can more easily download your pictures and share them in the emails.

And you’re done! You’ve just shared your photos with the group and they’ll instantly appear in our neato little swirling photo globe that appears in the right hand column on The Big Something page and, possibly, our daily email.

If you’re looking for inspiration, have a look at the Pikes Peak Library District’s amazing Digital Photography Archive from which we also pull historic photos of the day to feature in our emails.

Thanks!
