One of the little (sniff) sadnesses of radio features that the web has helped to cure is the fleeting ephemerality of great little pieces such as this one that we recorded last Spring. It was conceived as a kind of proto-Big Something when we were still thinking about it in a purely radio format. It features a beautiful handmade instrument dubbed a “boxatron” by Logan, the young gentleman who owned and played it. We love this piece, so here it is with the original introduction in the time machine of perpetuity that is the Web:

As you walk downtown this spring you may have accompaniment from musicians playing guitars, saxophones, or harmonicas. But keep your ears open for a slightly different sound. Noel Black interviewed Logan while he played his portable instrument of choice, a cigar box banjo or as he likes to call it, his boxatron. Kate Dawson produced this piece for KRCC.

(We always love your feedback. Please leave some in the comments below! What we also love is when you forward these pieces to people you like and invite them to join our mailing list. This helps us grow our web readership and supports KRCC. Thanks!)
