Citizen Report: 'Me and Lloyd'
Local singer-songwriter Jason Bennett has recorded five cds of original material, and occasionally plays gigs around town. But as he writes in this week’s “Citizen Report,” there’s one thing he encounters at some of these gigs that really gets his goose.

Jason Bennett CDs are stories told by an artist who really feels his songs, and the KRCC CITIZEN REPORT is another way for Jason to tell his story. I love the story of me, Lloyd and the coffee house blues. I’m looking forward to Jason’s next CD!
You said right! Congrats. Take care!
Peace,
Anthony Carmen Sacco
Good call, Reloy. I’ve been a big fan JB for years. His music takes me back to a simpler time when people did sing (I mean rap) about killing cops and beating up women. His lyrics are as pure and the driven snow of Colorado in the dead of winter. Keep up the good work JB!
Sorry, on my previous post I meant to say “His music takes me back to a simpler time when people didn’t sing (I mean rap) about killing cops and beating up women”
I really enjoy Jason’s music. I have heard him sing and play his guitar many times at coffee houses in Colorado Springs. I own all his cds. He is a real artist and musician who is diligent and has a lot of talent. I find that his songs are relaxing to hear, and in style are somewhat like Bob Dylan. Thanks a bunch Jason and good luck in your music career!
Touche` on Lloyd–hilarious. Good job Jason, you rock!
As a performer,
I stop abruptly when the espresso machine comes on if I have to do a coffee shop gig…
There have been some pretty loud blowers in these holes as well.
I’ve become a bit impatient/jaded these days with establishments that claim to want music but do everything in their power to sabotage my performance, including always telling me to turn it down. Which if freakin’ odd considering that I play mostly baroque and classical with folk and pop…
The last gig I did I was told to turn it down… on an acoustic piano during “Carolina On My Mind”!! WTF?
So when that waitress comes to tell me to “turn it down” as she always does because I’m stealing her moment, I now say, “Gimme my meal, and my pay, and I will gladly get the f#K out of here and never darken your door again…”
Ah, the music scene in Colorado… no wonder I moved out of state.
Peace out.
